Standard Features

The Model 255XP is a powerful 15 inch diameter capacity disc-style chipper that features a 15 inch by 25 inch throat opening and the largest feed system in its class in order to make feeding large pieces easier. The feed system consists of 2 horizontal feed wheels that each have a 10-5/8 inch diameter and are 24-1/2 inches wide, allowing for numerous piles of brush, limbs, and whole trees to be fed at one time. A wide variety of engine options from all major engine manufacturers are available, ranging from 97 to 173 horsepower.

Standard Features

The productivity of the Model 255XP can be attributed to its powerful dual-wheel feed system consisting of (2) 10-5/8 inch diameter by 24-1/2 inch wide feed wheels. These feed wheels are driven by (2) 32.7 CID hydraulic motors situated in Bandit's patented and proven slide box feed system. This system drastically reduces the need to trim or reposition material while feeding it into the chipper. Chainsaw work and operator fatigue is drastically reduced. A fast feed rate of 120 feet per minute can easily keep two people busy feeding it. Material is fed and chipped at 45-degree angle to the chipper disc, also making it effective at rapidly slicing and shearing through woody materials. This arrangement requires less energy to chip, and will chip larger diameter materials better than a drum-style chipper because it will consume less fuel, vibrate less, throw harder, and chip larger diameter material using less horsepower.
The approximate weight of this unit, depending upon selected options is 7,700 pounds. This includes the durable 45 inch diameter by 2 inch thick chipper disc with cupped throwers allowing it to capture and throw material out of the discharge at a high velocity, fully loading chip vans to their maximum capacity. The Model 255XP boasts a solid chassis construction using continuous steel welds for structural integrity as opposed to bolt-together techniques. Component weight is distributed and supported on a sturdy, balanced frame that provides the necessary physical reinforcement for chipping while allowing the machine to be towed easily. The Model 255XP rides on a single 8,000 pound EZ-Lube Torflex axle using (2) 265/75R 16 inch tires for engine options up to 142 horsepower. Higher engine options receive tandem 7,000 pound axles with (4) 245/75R 16 inch tires.
The large fuel tank on the Model 255XP holds 40 gallons, and the hydraulic tank has 13 gallon capacity. The discharge on the Model 255XP can manually rotate 360 degrees and has an adjustable deflector for directional control of the broadcasted chips. Optional upgrades including a reversing auto feed system, swivel and height adjustable discharge options, hydraulic winch, and a hydraulic lift cylinder for simplifying your operation. Deluxe option packages and / or bundles are also available. A full palette of standard and custom paint colors gives you the freedom to choose the look to fit your brand or company.
A serious option worth considering is that the Model 255XP can also be equipped with a Model 50 knuckle boom loader. The loader unit is best suited for feeding large piles of brush into the chipper, reducing labor and fuel costs. It comes with a swing-out operator's console, joystick controls, and a 360-degree rotating grapple for reaching out and pulling in large diameter materials and entangled brush piles. Adding the loader increases the machine weight to approximately 11,750 pounds because the fuel and hydraulic tanks are upgraded to a 42 gallon capacity and the infeed hopper is strengthened with same tapered style used on our Model 1850 whole tree chipper including a 30 inch weld-on tray.
The Model 255XP, as with all Bandit chippers, is designed and equipped with operator safety in mind. Standard items that accommodate any chipper package include guards that cover all moving parts, engine disabling plugs, disc / drum locks, wooden push paddles, safety control bar, and other Bandit patented and patent pending devices such as the "last chance" cables. Also, all components on Bandit chippers are designed to be easily accessible to save time on routine maintenance schedules and to reduce downtime by being more serviceable out in the field. Thus, Bandit chippers have proven over time to be the best economical decision you can make for a long-term investment in a brush chipper.
