Description

The Model 2550XP is a high production stump grinder that is packed with power to meet the needs of professional stump grinding contractors who need a dependable machine and reliable workhorse. You will spend less time on maintenance and more time grinding stumps because it features a heavy-duty hydrostatic motor to directly power the cutter wheel eliminating the need for a clutch, jackshaft, drive belt, belt tensioning system, and the many sheaves and bearings associated with those components. This considerably reduces downtime which translates to a more productive machine out in the field and a lower cost-of-ownership. With gasoline engine options from 35 to 38 horsepower and a 44.2 horsepower diesel engine option, the Model 2550XP packs the punch to power through large jobs while its compact size is preferable over larger sized competitive machines.

Standard Features

The cutting system of Model 2550XP offers the broad reach and bite demanded by tree care professionals. A 20 inch diameter by one inch thick cutterwheel is driven by a 40 cc hydraulic motor. Using over-sized bearings, the side loads and shock loads associated with the sweeping patterns of grinding are more absorbed and contained. This ultimately reduces stresses and vibration cast upon other components of the machine promoting a longer life for your stump grinder. At the job site, the Model 2550XP brings a massive 50 inch swing arc that covers an enormous area so the need to reposition the unit is minimized.
Efficiency has been built in the Model 2550XP when it comes to operator controls and travel. A separate 300 cc hydraulic motor in conjunction with a chain and sprocket drives the self-propelled undercarriage which boasts wide 8.5 inch flotation tires to travel over uneven or soft terrain with ease. With a travel speed of 140 feet per minute and a width of 35 inches less the dual tires, an operator can quickly and surgically move in and out of gated backyard areas and within confined areas. Four-wheel drive power with dual-drive tires, pivoting axle, and steering cylinder are offered as an optional upgrade to enhance the unit's ability to traverse hilly, muddy, or swampy areas. A swing out operator's station provides the controls for the drive system, cutter wheel swing, and up / down movements of the cutter head while positioning the operator at a clear viewing angle to the grinding action with protection.
Rubber chip curtains on both the operator's console and the machine itself aid in containing chip piles and shielding the operator from flying debris. The Model 2550 has been engineered to provide the best chip pile containment possible, reducing the radius that chips can be scattered from the ground stump and saving time consumed at cleanup time. An optional hydraulic grading blade is available and recommended for assisting with the cleanup after a stump is removed. This option can reduce the amount of manual labor involved in either removing the chips or filling in the remaining hole.
For those who want to be located away from the machine during the grinding process, a radio remote with tether back-up in lieu of manual controls is one of the options you may wish to consider. The remote includes controls for all drive and cutter wheel functions along with the cutter wheel bump down feature and an engine emergency stop button. This option allows the operation to seek out a position of better visibility while grinding. Regardless of preference, the Model 2550XP can easily function in a backyard setting in one moment and then in lot populated with many stumps during the next with its versatility.
All Bandit stump grinders, including the Model 2550XP, are built with a solid chassis construction using continuous steel welds as opposed to bolt-together techniques to provide years of dependable service for homeowners, rental companies, tree care companies, and land clearing operations. A full palette of standard and custom paint colors give you the freedom to choose the look of your brand or company.
The Model 2550XP, as with all Bandit stump grinders, is also designed with operator safety in mind. With standard devices such as guards, switches, and locking pins, Bandit stump grinders can provide years of dependable and productive service in combination with proper training. Components on these machines are also easily accessible to save time on routine maintenance schedules and reduce downtime by being more serviceable out in the field.
